Barry's Fund Raisers

Fundraising is the cornerstone of the work done by the riders of the PMC, not just riding a bicycle 192 miles. But the bicycle is the symbol of what the PMC is all about.

In order to raise the millions of dollars that the PMC donates to the Jimmy Fund every year, my fellow PMC'ers and I have to come up with new ideas to raise money for the Jimmy Fund.

As part of my fund raising, I do the traditional letter writings to my family , friends, co-workers and businesses in the area to ask if they would like to help me raise money for the Jimmy Fund. But I do something different.

Over the past 20 years, I conduct what I call my "Spare Change Fund Raiser For The Jimmy Fund". I place my bicycle on a device that turns the bike into a stationary bike, and pedal in front of a stores exit and, with signage, encourage people to drop the change from their purchase inside into a jug near where I am pedaling. I've conducted these fund raisers at the:
- Park'n'Shop Supermarkets in Auburn and Dudley
- Shaw's Supermarkets in Auburn and Webster
-Wal-Mart in Oxford
- Dunkin' Donuts in Dudley

This year, I will be conducting my "Spare Change Fund Raisers" at the following locations and times:
